I wrote Unicorns and Rainbows, but did not record my own version of the song. Instead I paid Escaper (Salem Tewfik) to create the music and produce it for me, with vocals by Francis.

Unicorns and Rainbows

Verse 1:
I still hear you laughing
calling my name
and watched you shine, at
Little League games

Pre-Chorus:
Play dates and bike rides
summertime Slip 'n Slides
Netflix, ice cream cones
Minecraft, texting phones

Play dates and bike rides
summertime Slip 'n Slides
Netflix, ice cream cones
Minecraft, texting phones

Chorus:
Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

Verse 2:
I still hear you whisper
"I love you too"
and clapped for each belt, you
won in Kung Fu

Pre-Chorus:
Concerts and dances
schoolyard romances
magical wishes on magical stars
we are the luckiest by far

Concerts and dances
schoolyard romances
magical wishes on magical stars
we are the luckiest by far

Chorus:
Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

[fade out]
[outro starts]
[Unicorns and rainbows fade away]

Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

Goodnights turned to memories
on the pillow where you once lay
when...
Unicorns and rainbows fade away
Unicorns and rainbows fade away

Reviews of Samproprod's Rainbows and Unicorns from the ReverbNation.com Crowd Review service (overall score: 6.9 out of 10) :

  • Eric Borgos, I love "Unicorns and Rainbows." What a catchy title! You do have the gift of songwriting. Keep on keeping on and sharing your talents with us!
  • I like the music of the song. The song structure is great. The vocal is awesome and the lyrics fits the music. The sound quality is nice.
  • I found the song to be very slow. The music and the lyrics of the song were very bland and dull in my opinion.
  • I like the slow melody of this song. This is not my type of music I listen to or seek out. It is an okay song but not for me.
  • I like the slow pacing of the song and the reflective mood of the song. The vocalist has a great voice and the lyrics are nice.
  • I like the soft sounds of the artists. The song sounds like a medley of fresh air to breathe in and out. I don't have nothing about the song to dislike.
  • I liked it when it first started immediately. My kind of music. I expected it to be a country music song but was pleasantly surprised when he started singing.
  • I liked the instrumental as well as the vocals. His voice is very good and I could understand most of the words.
  • I really like the instruments being placed and I like the beat. I feel like the instrumental portion at the beginning went on too long and I had lost interest by the time the singer began, which is a shame because he does have a really nice voice and I like the lyrics.
  • I really like the mellowness and the great beat of this song. I can listen to this song all day. The singer has a great voice. The only thing I didn't like was the song sounded kinda slow and a little low. Other than that it was awesome.
  • It has a nice beat to it and the singer has a pretty good voice but I wouldn't call this a pop song. I think it is more country or R and B.
  • That's a nice song. Great vocalist. Mellow and with a bit better studio production, it could be a nice radio hit. Well done! Enjoyed it.
  • Besides the lyrics being comical, I liked the music underneath them. But I don't think a song about unicorns sprinkles and rainbows would go with with a beat that is typically used for like relationship breakups LOL.
  • The auto tune country beat is fabulous. The singer performs a great job with the singing. The music is of top quality.
  • The guitar twang suggests country for the category type. Strong male voice singing. It's definitely been autotuned. Maybe something to play in the background at a coffee shop.
  • The guitars on the track make me think of a slow country ballad in some ways. I enjoy the uplifting inspirational sound of the track. Good stuff.
  • The intro is too long and fails to build in to the track. The name does not seem to fit. The vocals are over tuned and too monotone. The track as a whole feels thin.
  • The production is magnificent. Each instrument is perfectly balanced and clear. It doesn’t get any better! As for the song, it’s fine. The melody is not unique in any way but it is done well. The chord progression is very, very common. There’s a lot of talent here. I mean a lot! However, the song just plays it safe. I want to hear more creativity! Challenge yourselves! I know, I’m being very critical. For what it is, it’s great. I just want to challenge you to think outside the box sometimes. Thanks!
  • The song is a pop-country song and I think speaks to both genres very well. While I think the melody and instrumental could be improved to be smoother, I thought the singer did a good job and is very talented.
  • The tone of the song is pretty boring and dull. It is also very common. The instrument usage is also not at all exciting. But the lyrics is meaningful.
  • This is falling a bit flat for me, I am just not finding this to be all that interesting, and it feels like the intro drags.
  • This song has a fresh and catchy beat to it at the start of it. The instrumentals are good and pleasant to listen to and the vocals are as well.
  • This song has such a light, airy, fragile feel to it. It feels like something you might dance to at a wedding or county fair.
  • This song immediately made me feel mellow and calm. It is what I would imagine if there were unicorns and rainbows. The lyrics did seem a bit delayed.
  • Wasn't really feeling the vocals. Too much reliance on auto tune. Lyrics weren't doing it for me either. I found them kind of juvenile and not really matching a love song all that well.

Below is an pop version of Unicorns and Rainbows performed by Elliott Sheridan:

Reviews of Elliott Sheridan's Rainbows and Unicorns from the ReverbNation.com Crowd Review service (overall score: 6.0 out of 10) :

  • A good retro little song. I do like the music and overall good mixing. The lyrics and vocals are pretty interesting. Good job guys.
  • A nice solid mid tempo beat and rhythm create a 70s sounding pop melody over which the singer delivers his vocals in a smooth and flowing way. Great vocals in the chorus that is a big hook in the song.
  • Everything is mixed incredibly low. The vocals sound like they could be better if they were mixed a bit differently. The instrumentals kind of sound like a preset on a keyboard with how low they are. The vocal doubling is awful.
  • Feels more like a slower country song more than a pop song, the vocals are a little lacking in passion and emotional feeling as the artist sings.
  • Good chill track with good music and vocals, it creates a chill atmosphere that you can follow throughout the song, I liked it and listened to it with pleasure.
  • I like the melody of this song. I am not a fan of this type of music so I am probably rating it lower than it deserves.
  • I like the song from the start. It's a catchy tune and the vocals fit well. It sounds like a poor-man's Tom Petty. I like it and I'd totally listen to it again.
  • I liked it. It was a weird song. But it was original and I really haven't heard anything like that in a while. Definitely a neat band.
  • I thought that the song as a whole was very repetitive and bland and I did not like the melody very much at all either.
  • I thought the song was ok. The instrumentals were nice, and the vocals were ok. I wasn't sure about the lyrics though as they sounded a bit like a kid's song.
  • I was surprised at the sensitivity of the lyrics. The male vocalist delivers the lyrics with excitement and ectascy. The beat is smooth and the rhythm is solid.
  • It was very standard... I could imagine this song playing in a department store in the background. Nothing stood out to me. The beat, vocals and instrumental were all average.
  • It's an easy going and lighthearted song to listen to. It lives up to its name of "Unicorns and Rainbows". I have a difficult time making out the lyrics but they sound just as "sugarplummy", and I'm sure there's no irony to be had in its name. Sounds very wistful as well.
  • Nice and soft melody. Not bad. This is a like a campfire song or something that would play during a serial killer movie. Cool.
  • Super cheesy and generic sounding song, the lyrics are ok and well written, but song kinda puts me to sleep. The audio quality is good which is a plus for this song.
  • The song is a bit boring. It could use a bit more of an upbeat to it. The singers voice is nice and fun to listen to.
  • The song is relatively bland. Not a bad production or mix at all and the vocalist's voice is rather pleasant. The song just doesn't hit that "hook you" feeling.
  • The song is very smooth and relaxing. The voice of the singer is very apt for the song. Lyrics is very meaningful and matches with the tone.
  • The thing I did not like much about this song is that I find that the song overall rhythm and melody is quite boring and bland.
  • The title of this song is fun. It made me curious to listen. I like the vocals, they have a unique and pleasant sound.
  • The vocals are not a good fit for the song, but as a song that is played to see if people would want to record it or do something with it this song is so good. I like the lyrics and the beat of the song, it just needs work.
  • This is a little old fashioned, but not quite nostalgic. It is a soft and nice song, gentle and vaguely 1950's. The vocals aren't bad and the instrumentals fit well.
  • This is kind of a cute song. Nothing I would listen to on a regular basis, but it is a cute song. I could see it being a hit.
  • This song has nice lyrics to the song and a nice calming beat and tune but the singing is not that great to me.
  • This song starts with a fresh and creative beat in the start of it that I think is really pleasant. The vocals are decent as well.
  • This song was a bit bland there was nothing unique that made me want to listen again. It was okay to listen to but I would not seek it out again.
  • When this song started playing, I immediately thought of the 1960's Flower Power era. It has that calm, hippie vibe to it, but it still has a modern sound.

Below is a piano version of Unicorns and Rainbows performed by robledosilva:

Reviews of robledosilva's Rainbows and Unicorns from the ReverbNation.com Crowd Review service (overall score: 5.3 out of 10) :

  • Decent instrumental performance in terms of the piano playing in the song for the most part. Vocals are absolutely terrible though by comparison in the track.
  • I consider myself a big fan of both unicorns and rainbows in general, but honestly I couldn't make a connection while listening to this slower song.
  • I didn't like the lyrics that much but the music was okay. It wasn't necessarily bad but, some of the words sounded odd because of the singer's accent.
  • I do not like anything about this song. The instrumentals, lyrics, vocals, and beat are very bad. The singer's vocals are dragging. He seems to not be interested in the song. He lacks passion. The instrumentals have a slow and boring beat.
  • I like the instrumental, it's simple but rather soothing with the piano. It does take awhile until there are vocals, but the vocals do fit in perfectly with the instrumental. The vocals are a little pitchy at some parts.
  • I like the music of the song. The vocal is awesome and the lyrics fits the music of the song. The sound quality is great.
  • I like the piano, it is nicely played. That being said, doesn't really sound like a pop song at all. The singer's vocals are... Okay. Definitely weak and a bit flat at times. With a bit of work he would sound better.
  • I really like the song. It is calm and reflective. I really like what sounds like a piano in the song. It gives me Leonard Cohen vibes.
  • I thought that the song's overall melody could have been improved a bit because it starts to sound a bit repetitive and bland to me.
  • It took a minute to get into his voice. But the song is cute and I would definitely listen to it again. But his voice isn't for everyone. Very off key. It's like an off key rainbow connection. Uneecorns and rainbows. I kind of love it.
  • Not much, it was slow and drab, kinda depressing. I would not buy, nor stream or listen on the radio 2 thumbs down today from me.
  • Overall this song was okay bit not something that sticks to your memory and makes you want to hear it again it seem like it was missing something.
  • The beat and sound of the music is good but I am not a fan of the singing personally and it needs improvement to make it a good song.
  • The music is very dull. However instrument usage is optimum. But the tone of the song is very dragging. The voice of the singer is not that good.
  • The piano playing stands out to me. I find that the vocals did not fit the theme of the track. It could have been better.
  • The piano sounded fairly pleasant. The vocals were average, the singer didn't have a very dynamic sounding voice and the vocal recording wasn't very good quality. I liked the calm style of the song.
  • The production is the best part of the song. I really felt immersed into this song. The vocals were really solid as well. This is a real good song.
  • The song is very catchy and a fun tune to listen to. The instrumentals are fantastic and you can tell they are played by a professional. The singer is great and I could listen to this song over and over.
  • The song is very peaceful and easy to listen to. It slowly builds up to the vocals, however the singer has a strange accent that distracts from the beauty of the song.
  • The song is very slow but without the heart to it. There just isn't much depth to the music. The piano itself isn't enough to draw me in. While you can hear a little string in the background, it just doesn't have the impact it could. Also the lyrics just aren't that interesting.
  • The vocals I feel are very lacking. It does go well with the rest of song and I feel that there was not a lot of effort in it.
  • This doesn't sound like pop, and the vocals are not good. I hate autotune, but this would have benefited from it. I really like the piano though.
  • This song has a fresh and catchy beat to it at the start of it. The instrumentals are good and pleasant to listen to and the vocals are as well.
  • This song is nice and has a sweet magical feeling to it. This song reminds me of the good old days with my family. The artist did a good job with this song.
  • This song stirred the emotions in a big way. The lyrics were moving beyond belief. I could see this being featured as part of a television show's soundtrack or indie film soundtrack. It's just an absolutely beautiful song. I almost cried!
  • Too slow paced for me. It is a very strange because it seems a song from a different genre of music is playing at the same time.
